The Voynich Botanical Plants
Folio 53v Back to Plant ListFolio 53v, Hawkweed (Hieracium aurantiacum), is found all over the world. It resembles a dandelion with a cluster of yellow or orange ray flowers growing at the end of a long fuzzy stalk. The leaves are lance-shaped and bristly. Pliny the Elder claimed that hawks ate the plant to improve their vision, therefore it was used as a herb to help vision problems.
